Your holiday in Terento

With sunshine everywhere

What with the Strada del Sole (Road of the Sun), the village of the sun, the playground in the sun, the themed path of the sun, works of art dedicated to the sun, and our sunny character - it's no wonder the sun feels right at home in Terento. The sunniest village in South Tyrol is situated on a plateau at a height of 1,270 metres. Anyone spending a holiday in Terento can count on 2000 hours of sunshine a year. Minimum! Below is a brief summary of what you can enjoy in Terento, however young or old you are!

Unmissable experiences in Terento

Active holidaymakers who've been coming to Terento for a long time will certainly tell you this: you've chosen a place in the sun. But Terento offers a lot more than this. Did you know that this village on the Strada del Sole in Val Pusteria has always been known as the region's granary?

Terento
To this day, as part of the "s Terner Schmelzpfandl" (Terento Melting Pot) food and wine festival, wheat is milled in the 500-year-old mills on the Terento river. The flour is used to prepare some traditional local delicacies, such as Schwårzplentan Ribl (buckwheat fritters) or Ziachkråpfn, all well worth sampling. On the other hand, as part of the "From grain to bread" excursion, you can help to make rye bread ("breatl") in a traditional wood-burning oven and then sample it after baking. In summer, the mills are open every Monday.

Other things to see and do:

  • The Sentiero dei Mulini (Mill Trail) in Terento
  • The earth pyramids of Terento
  • Plan de Corones - a winter and summer paradise
  • Ice skating rink & toboggan run in the centre of the village
  • Large adventure playground with Kneipp path & minigolf
  • "Wiedenhof" riding school with Icelandic horses
  • A popular leisure park with Kneipp path
  • "On the trail of Terento legends": hiking trails leading to legendary sites, such as the gigantic Pietra del Diavolo (Devil's Stone) at malga Pertingeralm or the Sasso delle Streghe (Witch's Rock) at malga Astnerberg. This is where the witches once gathered for their dances - you can still see the imprints of their stiletto heels.
